Lexar Professional 1000x UHS-II 32GB microSD Memory Card Review

Introduction

The Lexar Professional 1000x UHS-II 32GB microSDHC card offers high speed downloads and U3 write performance for HD and 4K video. Its 150MB/s read speed allows fast transfers from the memory card to a computer or mobile device, while the 45MB/s rated write speed supports recording high definition and 4K video. This UHS-II card is backwards compatible with UHS-I devices and operates up to 104MB/s (SDR104) in UHS-I mode. It will also operate in Standard SD mode in legacy devices.

The card is rated UHS Speed Class 3 (U3) which means it can sustain at least 30MB/s for continuous video recording. Lexar 1000x microSD cards are available in 32, 64 and 128 GB capacities. The 32GB card (LSDMI32GCBNL1000R) is reviewed here.

The back of the card has the high-speed UHS-II bus interface, which is a second row of added for UHS-II compatibility. It also has the standard microSD contacts for reverse compatibility. The card tested was made in Korea.

Performance

The 32GB Lexar 1000x microSDHC card was benchmarked in various memory card readers. In card readers with UHS-II support it performed up to 152 MB/s sequential read, just above the 150MB/s rating. In sequential write benchmarks it reached 53 MB/s, also above the 45 MB/s rated speed. When it was tested in UHS-I card readers, the 1000x card operates in UHS-I mode. It reached 92.9 MB/s read and 52.6 MB/s write speed in UHS-I card readers.

Note: Many multi-card readers do not support UHS-II in the microSD slot even when UHS-II is supported in the full-size slot. When this card was tested in such multi-card readers a microSD to SD UHS-II adapter was used (the adapter is included with Lexar Professional 1800x UHS-II microSD cards). Otherwise in those readers the card would operate only in UHS-I mode at lower speed. The same adapter was used to test in readers with only a full-size SD slot. The Lexar LRWM05U-7000 UHS-II microSD Reader included with Lexar UHS-II microSD cards is a dedicated UHS-II microSD card reader.
