Lexar Professional 1000x UHS-II 32GB Rev B SDHC Memory Card Review

Introduction

The Lexar 1000x UHS-II 32GB card is capable of 150MB/s read and 75MB/s write speeds. Lexar 1000x cards use UHS-II to achieve the highest transfer rate. The 1000x SD cards are offered in 16, 32, 64, 128 and 256GB sizes. The 32GB SDHC card with part number LSD32GCRBNA1000 is tested in this review. The card has Rev B on the product package above the UPC label.

The back of the card reveals what separates this UHS-II card from a standard SD card. It uses a second row of contacts that are used by devices that support UHS-II. The card also has standard SD contacts and will work in non-UHS-II devices, but its speed will be limited to UHS-I speed. The card supports UHS-I mode SDR104 (104MB/s maximum).

Performance

The Lexar 1000x UHS-II 32GB Rev B SDHC card was subjected to benchmark tests using several memory card readers. The fastest read and write speeds are shown in the table below. This 32GB card measured above its 150MB/s speed rating. The highest sequential read speed was 154.2 MB/s. The write speed in UHS-II capable readers measured up to 85.4 MB/s sequential write, passing its 75MB/s write speed rating. In UHS-I mode the card measured 93.9 MB/s read and 77.2 MB/s write.

Recommendation

Lexar 1000x UHS-II cards are offered at prices similar to fast UHS-I cards. Their fast 150MB/s read speed makes them stand out, but their write speed sometimes trails some of the faster UHS-I cards. In certain cameras that support UHS-II but not UHS-I mode SDR104, the Lexar 1000x cards have an advantage. It is recommended for those looking for fast download speed (with a UHS-II card reader) and good, but perhaps not the fastest available, write speed.
