The Lexar Professional 600x 64GB SDXC card offers high speed and large capacity to satisfy photography enthusiasts and professionals. It supports UHS-I for fast transfer speed, up to 90MB/s read and 45MB/s write according to Lexar. The 600x card is available in capacities ranging from 16 to 256GB. The 32GB SDHC version was reviewed previously. Here we test the 64GB SDXC version.
Lexar is one of the few memory cards brands actively involved in producing NAND flash memory. Micron, the parent company of Lexar, produces memory chips in Lehi, Utah. Final assembly of the chips into memory cards is completed in Asia; the card reviewed here was assembed in Korea. Lexar Professional memory cards are backed by a limited lifetime warranty.
To test the raw speed potential of the Lexar 600x SDXC card, it was run through benchmark tests using several USB 3.0 card readers. It reached its rated speed, recording a maximum 95.7 MB/s sequential read. Write speed exceeded specification by a large margin. In the Lexar Professional Dual-Slot Reader it recorded a fastest sequential write speed of 68.6 MB/s. This is well above the 48.6 MB/s measured with the 32GB SDHC version of the card.

In testing the Lexar 600x 64GB SDXC in digital cameras it provided consistent performance. It averaged 33.2 MB/s actual write speed in the Canon 6D, only slightly below the 36MB/s maximum speed the camera reached among all SD cards tested. It was faster than the 32GB version which reached 30.7 MB/s in the same test. The results below will be updated as the card is tested in additional cameras.

To compare among other popular 64GB cards, consider the SanDisk Extreme 60MB/s and Extreme Plus 80MB/s 64GB SDXC cards. In benchmark tests, the Lexar Professional 600x 64GB exceeds both the read and write speed of the SanDisk Extreme 60MB/s card, and is more in line with the SanDisk Extreme Plus 80MB/s. In testing in the Canon 6D, the Lexar trailed both SanDisk cards by a small margin. Currently the Lexar 600x is priced similarly to the Extreme 60MB/s, making the Lexar 600x a good value with a faster read speed compared with the Extreme 60MB/s card.
