Transcend 95/60 MB/s U3 128GB SDXC Memory Card Review

Introduction

Transcend produces a variety of SD cards. The 95/60 U3 is the least expensive U3-rated card offered. It offers a 95MB/s read speed and 60MB/s write speed, while the U3 designation guarantees continuous recording of at least 30MB/s for uninterrupted 4K and full HD video recording. The card offers UHS-I performance, which is the high-speed interface supported by most digital cameras and computers. The Transcend U3 95/60 card is available in 64, 128 and 256 GB capacities. The 128GB size SDXC card (TS128GSDU3) is tested in this review.

Transcend 95/60 cards use MLC flash memory, a highly durable memory structure that has increased lifespan over TLC flash memory used in less expensive cards. Transcend memory cards are covered by a limited lifetime warranty policy. The 95/60 card reviewed was made in Taiwan.

Performance

After benchmarking the Transcend 95/60 card in numerous USB 3.0 card readers, it reached up to 96.8 MB/s sequential read speed, just above the 95MB/s quoted by Transcend. The sequential write speed reached 68.6 MB/s, above specification and slightly better than the 67.8 MB/s sequential write measured in the 64 GB capacity version of the same card tested previously.
