Kingston Canvas Go! UHS-I V30 256GB SDXC Memory Card Review

Introduction

Kingston's Canvas SD card line is new for 2018. The Canvas Go! is the mid-level UHS-I card, which sits between the Canvas Select and Canvas React cards. The Canvas Go! blends high read speeds with U3/V30 write speeds. Kingston claims 90MB/s read and 45MB/s write speeds. The card is also able to provide a minimum of 30MB/s continuous write speed which makes it suitable for HD and 4K video recording.

Canvas Go! cards are offered in 32, 64, 128, 256 and 512 GB capacities. The 256GB SDXC card SDG/256GB with UPC 740617279597 is tested in this review. The card is covered by Kingston's lifetime warranty.

Performance

The Kingston Canvas Go! 256GB SDXC card was benchmarked in USB 3.1 and 3.0 card readers. These tests show the Canvas Go! was able to reach up to 99.6 MB/s sequential read speed, making good on the 90 MB/s read speed claim. The card was able to attain 82.2 MB/s sequential write speed, significantly higher than the 45MB/s write speed claim. The Canvas Go! cards seem to be very underrated for read speed, surpassing even the higher rated Canvas React cards for all out write speed.
