Lexar Professional 1000x UHS-II 128GB microSDXC Memory Card Review

Introduction

The Lexar Professional 1000x UHS-II 128GB microSDXC card operates up to 150MB/s read and 45MB/s write speed. The card uses UHS-II for fast download speed. The card also works in UHS-I devices at lower speed. This card has the UHS Speed Class 3 (U3) designation that means it can provide at least 30MB/s continuous write speed, making it suitable for recording HD and 4K video.

Lexar 1000x microSD cards are offered in 32, 64, 128 and 256 GB sizes. This review is for the 128GB card model LSDMI128GCBNL1000R. The card is made in Korea and backed by a limited lifetime warranty from Lexar.

The back of the card shows an additional row of contacts that provide the UHS-II bus interface. Older devices that lack corresponding pins for these connections will only operate up to UHS-I speed including SDR104 mode. Legacy SD devices will only use the top row of connections.

The card is packaged with a USB 3.0 microSD card reader that provides UHS-II support. The Lexar LRWM05U-7000 card reader review has a complete test of the reader with benchmarks with this and other microSD cards.

Performance

The 128GB Lexar 1000x microSDXC card was benchmarked using UHS-I and UHS-II card readers. The highest read speeds were seen in UHS-II readers, where the card had a maximum 163.9 MB/s sequential read speed. This is better than its 150MB/s rating. The fastest sequential write speed of 59.3 MB/s also exceeds the 45 MB/s speed advertised by Lexar. In UHS-I card readers the 1000x reached benchmarks of 96.5 MB/s sequential read and 57.9 MB/s sequential write at best. The speeds is limited by the UHS-I interface.

When this card was tested in UHS-II card readers without UHS-II in the microSD slot, a UHS-II microSD to SD adapter was used. Although Lexar does not include such an adapter with this card, it is included with Lexar 1800x UHS-II microSD cards.
