Lexar Professional 1000x UHS-II 128GB Rev C SDXC Memory Card Review

Introduction

Lexar 1000x UHS-II cards offer high transfer speeds up to 150MB/s read and write speeds up to 80MB/s. The UHS-II interface provides the means to reach these high speeds. In UHS-I devices the cards operate at lower speed. The 1000x SD cards are offered in 16, 32, 64, 128 and 256GB capacities. The 128GB SDXC card part number LSD128CRBNA1000 is tested in this review. The product package has Rev C on the label above the UPC.

UHS-II compatible devices use a second row of pins to communicate with UHS-II memory cards. The cards also have the traditional SD contacts and will work with non-UHS-II enabled devices, but are limited to UHS-I mode SDR104 (104MB/s maximum).

Performance

The Lexar 1000x UHS-II 128GB Rev C card was tested in several UHS-I and UHS-II card readers. The card exceeded the 150MB/s read speed rating reaching a maximum speed of 166.5 MB/s sequential read. The write speed in UHS-II readers peaked at 95.7 MB/s sequential write, well above the 80 MB/s write speed quoted by Lexar. In UHS-I readers the card operated at up to 93.8 MB/s read and 79.8 MB/s write.

Recommendation

Lexar 1000x UHS-II cards are offered at a competitive price that compares to fast UHS-I cards. Their fast 150MB/s read speed makes them stand out, but their write speed sometimes trails some of the faster UHS-I cards. In certain cameras that support UHS-II but not UHS-I mode SDR104, the Lexar 1000x cards have an advantage. It is recommended for those looking for fast download speed (with a UHS-II card reader) and good, but perhaps not the fastest available, write speed.
