SanDisk Extreme 150MB/s UHS-I U3 V30 256GB SDXC Card Review
Introduction
SanDisk continually improves their Secure Digital card line, and the latest version of the Extreme card features a 150MB/s read speed. The SanDisk Extreme 150MB/s UHS-I U3 V30 256GB SDXC card can only attain this speed in the SanDisk SDDR-C531 UHS-I card reader. When the card is used in other readers, including SanDisk UHS-II readers, it operates at a reduced rate.
The Extreme 150MB/s SD has a Video Speed Class V30 rating, meaning it will sustain 30MB/s recording for 4K video. Its maximum write speed is advertised at 70 MB/s, which is 10MB/s faster than the 64 and 128GB versions of this card. Extreme 150MB/s cards are available in 64, 128 and 256 GB capacities. The 256GB SDXC card is tested in this review and has model number SDSDXV5-256G-ANCIN and UPC 619659170271. The card is covered by a lifetime warranty. SanDisk makes this card in China.
Performance
Benchmarks performed in memory card readers show the maximum performance of the Extreme 150MB/s 256GB card. The highest sequential read speed was 151.6 MB/s and only reached using the SanDisk SDDR-C531 UHS-I card reader. Its performance was lower in other card readers, and the next fastest result was 99.3MB/s. The maximum sequential write speed measured 89.2 MB/s, much faster than the 70MB/s advertised.
