SanDisk Extreme Plus 90/90 MB/s UHS-I U3 V30 128GB microSDXC Card Review

Introduction

When SanDisk updated Extreme Plus UHS-I microSD cards with a 95/90 MB/s speed rating it matched the speed offered by Extreme Pro 95MB/s UHS-I microSD cards. The latest offering of the Extreme Plus cards brings a new 128GB capacity with U3 and V30 ratings. The Extreme Pro microSD has since moved on to higher speeds with UHS-II compatibility.

Extreme Plus 95/90 MB/s U3 V30 microSD cards are available in 32, 64 and 128GB capacities. All carry the new Video Speed Class V30 rating. This rating guarantees the card is capable of recording at least 30MB/s continuously and makes it suitable for HD and 4K video. This review covers the 128GB capacity card model SDSQXWG-128G-ANCMA with UPC 619659142285. The 32GB and 64GB were previously tested.

Performance

The Extreme Plus 95/90MB/s 128GB card was tested in a variety of USB 3.0 card readers. The sequential read speed reached 99.6 MB/s while write speed peaked at 90.8MB/s. This is slightly better than the speeds noted on the card and nearly as fast as the 32GB and 64GB versions.
