SanDisk Extreme Pro 170MB/s UHS-I U3 V30 256GB SDXC Card Review
Introduction
This SanDisk Extreme Pro 170MB/s UHS-I U3 V30 256GB SDXC card was introduced in late 2018 and offers an improved read speed compared with the 95MB/s card is replaced. The higher read speed can ony be achieved with SanDisk's proprietary card reader SDDR-C531. In other memory card readers it is limited to lower speeds around 99MB/s. The write speed is advertised as 90MB/s.
The Extreme Pro 170MB/s card is Video Speed Class V30 rated to provide at least 30MB/s continuous recording speed. This makes the card suitable for HD and 4K video recording where continuous write speed is important. The Extreme Pro 170MB/s card is offered in 64, 128, 256 and 512 GB capacities. The 256GB card model SDSDXXY-256G-ANCIN was tested for this review and is sold with UPC 619659170349. The card is backed by a lifetime warranty. The card was produced in China.
Performance
The Extreme Pro 170MB/s 256GB card performance was tested in several memory card readers. Performance benchmarks show the maximum sequential read speed of 177.2 MB/s in the SanDisk SDDR-C531 card reader. The highest sequential write speed was 99.9 MB/s in the same reader. When tested in other card readers, the card only reached up to 99.2MB/s sequential read and 89.2 MB/s sequential write speed.
