Toshiba Exceria Pro N401 128GB SDXC Memory Card Review

Introduction

Toshiba invented flash memory in 1987 and pioneered the Secure Digital memory along with SanDisk and Panasonic in 2000. Since then, Toshiba has been a worldwide leader in the SD format. The Toshiba Exceria brand was first introduced in 2012, and since then the name Exceria has appeared on various SD cards. The Exceria Pro N401 is a solid card, offering UHS-I speed with 95MB/s read and 75MB/s write ratings. It is U3 rated for recording 4K and Full HD video. The Exceria Pro N401 is available in 16, 32, 64 and 128 GB capacities. The Exceria Pro N401 128GB SDXC part number THN-N401S1280A4 with UPC 4547808806121 is tested in this review. The card is made in Japan and has a 5-year warranty.

Performance

The Exceria Pro N401 128GB SDXC card was benchmarked using USB 3.1 and 3.0 memory card readers. In benchmark testing, the Toshiba card measured up to 97.9 MB/s sequential read speed. This was greater than the 95 MB/s rating. A high mark of 76.8 MB/s sequential write speed was also achieved in card reader benchmarks. This is better than the 75 MB/s write speed rating given by Toshiba. The card had steady performance across all card readers, reaching at least 95MB/s read and 75 MB/s write speed in nearly every test.
