Verbatim Pro II Plus UHS-II V90 64GB SDXC Memory Card Review

Introduction

The Verbatim brand is synonymous with data storage. The company founded in California in 1969 later merged with Mitsubishi in the 1990s and today offers memory cards, USB drives and recordable media throughout the world. Verbaim Secure Digital cards range from entry level to the top-performing UHS-II variety, the latter of which is tested in this review.

The Pro II Plus UHS-II V90 64GB SDXC provides up to 295 MB/s read and 245 MB/s write speeds. The Video Speed Class 90 (V90) rating makes the card suitable for recording 4K and 8K video, where it will provide at least 90MB/s continuous recording. Verbatim Pro II Plus cards are available in 64 and 128 GB capacities. The 64GB Pro II Plus product number 99166 with UPC 023942991663 is tested here. The card is produced in Taiwan and covered by a lifetime warranty.

Performance

The Verbatim Pro II Plus was benchmarked in several UHS-II and UHS-I card readers. The sequential read speed reached up to 292.1 MB/s, just slightly short the advertised read speed of 295 MB/s. The sequential write speed topped out at 250.6 MB/s, just over the 245 MB/s write speed claim. In UHS-I readers the card measured 95.8 MB/s read and 92.5 MB/s write speeds, where is was limited to UHS-I mode SDR104.
