Review: Samsung EVO Select 128GB microSDXC U1 Memory Card

Introduction

The Samsung EVO Select series offers 80MB/s read and 20MB/s write speed in the microSD memory card format. The EVO Select offers UHS Speed Class 1 (U1) performance and can sustain at least 10MB/s continuous write speed for HD video recording. The EVO Select offers higher read speed compared with the standard EVO SD cards. EVO Select microSD cards are available in 32, 64 and 128GB capacities. The 128GB microSDXC card (MB-ME128DA/AM) is tested in this review.

Samsung EVO Select memory cards are covered by a 10-year warranty. The card tested is marked model number MB-ME128D and "Made in Korea."

Performance

Benchmark performance tests were run using USB 3.0 SD card readers. The highest sequential read benchmark was 88.2 MB/s while the sequential writes reached 23.3 MB/s maximum. This exceeds the 80MB/s read and 20MB/s write speeds claimed by Samsung.
