SanDisk Extreme Plus UHS-I V30 A2 128GB microSDXC Memory Card Review

Introduction

This latest version of the SanDisk Extreme Plus UHS-I microSD card adds A2 performance to its already high performance levels. SanDisk quotes up to 170MB/s read speed, however normal card readers can only sustain up to 100MB/s using existing standards. Write speeds are advertised at 90MB/s, and the V30 performance guarantees continuous write speeds of at least 30MB/s for video recording. The A2 rating means the card can sustain at least 4,000 random read operations per second, and 2,000 random write operations per second. This means the card is well suited to be used in mobile devices as extended storage.

Extreme Plus V30 A2 microSD cards are available in 32, 64, 128 GB capacities. This test covers the 128GB capacity microSDXC card model SDSQXBZ-128G-ANCMA with UPC 619659169497.

Performance

The Extreme Plus A2 128GB microSD card was tested in USB 3.1 and 3.0 card readers. SanDisk claims up to 170MB/s read speed using their proprietary card reader, and when tested in the SanDisk MobileMate USB 3.0 Reader (SDDR-B531) it surpassed that speed. The sequential read speed measured up to 175.7 MB/s. In other readers however the card reached up to 99 MB/s. Sequential write speed peaked at 99.7 MB/s.
