AData Premier One UHS-II V90 256GB SDXC Memory Card Review

Introduction

AData produces a variety of computer memory and storage products. Their Secure Digital cards range from entry level to high performance. Sitting atop is the Premier One. This UHS-II SD card promises uncompromising speed. The largest capacity 256GB SDXC card offers up to 275 MB/s transfer speed according to AData. While the packaging does not clarify if this is a read or write speed, the company web site states the 256GB card has 275MB/s read and 155MB/s write speeds. The Premier One card is Video Speed Class 90 (V90) rated and will support a minimum 90 MB/s continuous video recording, making it ideal for 4K and 8K video.

Premier One UHS-II cards are available in 64, 128 and 256 GB capacities. The 256GB version ASDX256GUII3CL10-C with UPC 4712366968738 is tested in this review. AData memory cards are covered by a lifetime warranty. The card tested was made in Taiwan.

Performance

The AData Premier One 256GB SDXC card was benchmarked using a variety of UHS-II and UHS-I USB memory card readers. The card reached up to 288.6 MB/s sequential read speed, well above the 275MB/s rated transfer rate. Write speed was also much better than rated, it achieved up to 234.7 MB/s sequential write speed. This is well above the 155 MB/s write speed advertised.

In UHS-I card readers the Premier One 256GB card posted up to 92.9 MB/s read and 91.1 MB/s sequential write speeds.

The card was not recognized by three of the recent SanDisk USB card readers.
