SanDisk Extreme Pro 95MB/s UHS-I U3 64GB SDXC Memory Card

Introduction

The Extreme Pro 95MB/s UHS-I is the fastest UHS-I SD card offered by SanDisk. Its performance is rated at 95MB/s read and 90MB/s write speed. The card now carries the UHS Speed Class 3 (U3) designation which means it supports continuous write speed of at least 30MB/s for recording 4K video. Older versions of this card are be labeled U1; it is essentially the same card, the label was updated to add the new speed class as defined by the SD Association.

The Extreme Pro 95MB/s card is available in a wide range of capacities: 16, 32, 64, 128, 256 and 512 GB. This review and test is of the 64GB SDXC version. The 32GB SDHC version was previously reviewed.

Performance

The performance of the Extreme Pro 95MB/s UHS-I card was measured in several SD card readers. The card readers use the USB 3.0 interface for maximum performance. The Extreme Pro exceeded both read and write speed ratings, reaching 98.5MB/s sequential read and 93.2MB/s sequential write in benchmark testing. The top read speed was observed in the SanDisk Extreme Pro UHS-II Reader, while the highest write speed was in the Lexar Professional Dual Slot Reader. Only in one reader, the Kingston FCR-HS3, did the card not quite reach its rated speed.
